I do believe that the creation of this particular page excites me more than any of the others! This page contains downloads for my personal music...sound bites from songs I have sung.
I have always loved to sing, and when I was younger I would sing anywhere, anytime, in front of anybody. I absolutely loved the attention. That all changed (well, the singing in front of people part) when I fell in love, real love, I thought, at the young age of sixteen. I thought the sun rose and set upon this boy. I sang more when he was in my thoughts, which was all the time!
Then one day while stopped at a light in his car, I was singing away, when he turned to me and said, "Do you think everyone wants to listen to you sing all the time?" Except for my immediate family, I have never sung another note since, in front of anyone. I am forty-one now, and still carry, in the back of my mind, those horrible words uttered thoughtlessly to me by a seventeen year old boy who meant the world to me. I know not where he is now, however, I truly do hope he happens upon my page one day and leaves a note of apology in an email for me. I am sure he has no idea to what extent that comment has affected me...
Just prior to Christmas 1987, my sister-in-law, Helen, was working at The Sing-Along-Company, a store which rented and sold karaoke machines. She would urge me to come in and sing while she was working. I would always be too shy. After much persuasion, I conceded, thinking that perhaps it would be a boon for my confidence. As well, I had thought how wonderful it would be to record a tape as a Christmas gift for my Dad, my greatest fan..(well, next to my children now!) I would go meet Helen practically every day to record some of my Dad's and my favourite songs on tape, using the karaoke tapes as background music. Days turned into weeks, as each time a customer entered the store, I would abruptly stop singing, so shy was I to continue with an 'audience'. But finally, the tape was completed. My father absolutely loved it, and my husband made copies for the rest of the family. The experience was really very good for me, however, the renewed confidence was short lived. I have not, since then, sung again in front of another.
Recently, I learned how to make my own sound bites using Audio Recorder on my computer. I sent a few of my wav files to friends, who enjoyed them. At the suggestion of one of my good friends, I have decided to try and include them on one of my pages. And this is the page! I learned how to include files for downloading here, and listed below are some of the sound bites I have recorded. Just click on the jewel next to the title and save the file to your own hard drive. I do hope you enjoy them. And please.....should you have any comments, do try and be very, very gentle on me..*smile*
